Ginger Sekanjabin

Sekanjabin is a refreshing Persian drink. This recipe makes a ginger-flavored syrup which, when stirred into water, makes a spicy, refreshing soft drink.

Recipe Instructions

Step 1
To use, stir 1 part syrup into 4 to 5 parts water; serve cold with ice if desired.
Step 2
Bring sugar and water to a boil in a large saucepan over high heat. Boil for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the pan from heat. Stir in vinegar and ginger. Allow mixture to cool to room temperature.
Step 3
Strain out ginger with a fine sieve. Store at room temperature in a sterile container.

  • 1 cup red or white wine vinegar
  • 2.5 cups water
  • 0.5 cup minced fresh ginger
