Step 1
Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Stir in onion; cook and stir until the onion has softened and turned translucent, about 5 minutes. Add garlic, jalapeno pepper, and ginger; cook and stir for 2 minutes more.n
Step 2
Stir in peanut butter, water, tamari, and honey until smooth. Add shredded basil. Heat through, and remove from heat. Garnish with whole basil leaves, if desired.n

  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 ¼ cups water
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger root
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves, cut into thin strips
  • ¼ cup tamari or soy sauce
  • 3 fresh basil leaves for garnish
