This is a bread machine product that is dark in color, but lighter in texture. Molasses and cocoa account for the deep color, bread flour and cornmeal ensure the lighter quality.

• 1 teaspoon salt
• 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
• 2 ½ cups bread flour
• 1 ½ cups warm milk
• 1 ½ tablespoons vegetable oil
• 3 tablespoons molasses
• 1 cup rye flour
• ⅓ cup cornmeal
• 1 ¾ teaspoons active dry yeast

Recipe Instructions

Step 1

Place ingredients into the bread machine in order suggested by the manufacturer.

Step 2

Use the Light Crust or Whole Wheat settings. Start the machine.
