Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
Step 2
Combine cream cheese, ¼ cup sugar, and 1 egg in a large bowl; beat with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
Step 3
Combine 1 ½ cups sugar, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg in a separate bowl.
Step 4
Combine 1 egg, pumpkin, butter, and water in another bowl. Mix in flour mixture until moistened. Reserve 2 cups pumpkin batter. Pour remaining batter into prepared pan. Pour cream cheese mixture over top. Top with reserved pumpkin batter. Cut through batter several times with a knife for a swirl effect.
Step 5
Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 70 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes. Remove from pan to cool completely.
