Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.

Place the beets in a large saucepan; cover with 1 inch of water. Bring to a boil over high heat; reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until beets are just tender, about 30 minutes.
