Growing up in a small Michigan town with a large Polish population, these sloppy joes seemed to be at every wedding, graduation, and funeral. Slightly sweet with a little tang, just like potato chips, you can't eat just one!

Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Heat oil in a large pan, skillet, or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Saute onion in the hot oil until softened, about 5 minutes. Add beef; cook and stir until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off any excess fat.
Step 2
Stir ketchup, mustard, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper into the pan; mix until thoroughly combined. Let simmer over low heat, 15 to 20 minutes. Adjust salt and pepper to your liking.
Step 3
Serve on hamburger buns.

  • 1 small sweet onion, diced
  • 1 drizzle olive oil
  • 1 ¼ cups ketchup
  • 10 hamburger buns, split
