Step 1
Place popped popcorn into a large brown paper bag; set aside.
Step 2
Combine brown sugar, margarine, corn syrup, vanilla, and salt in a microwave-safe bowl or dish. Microwave for 3 minutes, then stir until well blended. Microwave for another 1 1/2 minutes; stir in baking soda.
Step 3
Pour sugar mixture over popcorn in the bag. Roll down the top once or twice to close the bag; shake to coat corn. Place bag in the microwave and cook for 1 minute and 10 seconds. Remove, shake, flip the bag over, and return it to the microwave. Cook for another 1 minute and 10 seconds.
Step 4
Pour popcorn out onto waxed paper and let cool until coating is set. Store in an airtight container.
