This sauce can turn an ordinary meal into something extraordinary! Pearl onions are simmered in a savory sauce of white wine, beef broth, raisins and herbs. Serve over ham, or other meat.

Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Saute onions until golden, about 7 minutes.
Step 2
Stir in garlic, wine, broth, tomato paste, raisins, orange zest, thyme, black pepper and parsley. Simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes, stirring often. When onions are tender increase the heat to high and cook, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens, about 3 minutes.

  • 2 tablespoons raisins
  • ½ teaspoon grated orange zest
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 ½ teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
  • ⅓ cup dry white wine
  • ¼ teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
  • ¾ pound pearl onions, peeled
