This recipe for Russian tea cakes has been made by my family at Christmastime for at least four generations. This year will be the first for number five! "Bubba" brought the recipe with her when she came from Lithuania. I pass it on in the true spirit of this season!

Recipe Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Step 2
Cream butter and vanilla together in a medium bowl until smooth. Combine flour and the 6 tablespoons confectioners' sugar in another bowl; stir into the butter mixture until just blended. Mix in walnuts.
Step 3
Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Step 4
Bake for 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool cookies and roll in remaining confectioners' sugar. Roll cookies in confectioners' sugar a second time if desired.
