Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Grease two cookie sheets and set aside. Whisk egg white in a small bowl.
Step 2
Cream butter, sugar, and egg yolk in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add flour, vanilla, and salt; mix well.
Step 3
Scoop dough into golf ball-sized balls. Roll in egg white, then in walnuts. Place 2-inches apart on the cookie sheets.
Step 4
Bake in the preheated oven until slightly puffed, about 5 minutes.
Step 5
Remove cookies from the oven. Use your thumb to dent the center of each cookie, then fill with jam.
Step 6
Return to the oven and bake until cookies are set, about 8 minutes.
