Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Add onion; reduce heat to medium-low. Cook until very soft and almost mushy, 7 to 10 minutes. Add garlic; cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Step 2
Stir in ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, liquid smoke, hot sauce, and black pepper; bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 15 minutes.

  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (such as Cholula®)
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.25 cup molasses
  • 0.5 large onion, minced
