Anxious to utilize my herb garden, I turned my favorite biscuit recipe into these Cheddar-thyme flaky biscuits—simply mix dough, roll out, cut, and bake.

Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
Step 2
Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cream of tartar together in a medium bowl. Cut in butter using a pastry cutter or a fork until pea-sized. Make a well in center of mixture; add milk, Cheddar cheese, and thyme to the well. Gently stir until a soft dough forms.
Step 3
Roll or pat dough out on a floured surface to 3/4-inch thick; cut into circles and place on a baking sheet.
Step 4
Bake in the preheated oven until bottoms of biscuits are golden brown, 10 minutes.
