Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Spread 2 tablespoons butter evenly on 1 side of each slice of bread. Set 3 slices aside.
Step 2
Spread Dijon mustard evenly over butter on 3 slices. Top Dijon layer with 4 slices of ham. Set aside.
Step 3
On 3 remaining buttered slices, spread mayonnaise evenly over butter. Top each with 2 slices of Swiss cheese. Press ham and cheese sides of sandwiches together.
Step 4
Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, eggs, and water in a shallow plate. Set aside.
Step 5
Heat remaining 2 tablespoons butter and oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Dip both sides of each sandwich in egg mixture. Fry, flipping once or twice, until brown on both sides.

  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 cup water
