Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Step 2
Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 40 to 45 minutes.
Step 3
Beat egg and vinegar together in a small bowl; set aside. Whisk flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt together in a bowl. Cut in butter with a knife or pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 4
Stir in egg and vinegar mixture. Add ice water 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing with a fork until moist; dough should hold together when squeezed. Divide dough in half and shape into 2 balls. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to three days.
Step 5
Roll 1 dough ball out to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place bottom crust in pie plate and chill for at least 20 minutes before baking. Roll out top crust; set aside.
Step 6
Arrange apple slices on bottom of pie crust; scatter blackberries on top. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar. Top pie with second crust; pinch top and bottom crusts together. Brush top crust lightly with water, sprinkle with sugar. Poke several holes in crust with a fork to allow steam to escape during baking.

  • 0.75 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
