Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Step 2
Whisk together flour, white sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cloves in a medium bowl until well mixed; set aside.
Step 3
Beat together oil and eggs in a large bowl until creamy. Mix in applesauce until well combined. Add flour mixture; stir until batter is smooth. Fold in 1/2 cup walnuts and raisins until incorporated. Pour into the prepared baking dish.
Step 4
Mix together remaining 1 cup walnuts, chocolate chips, and brown sugar in a small bowl until well combined; spread over batter.

Bake in the preheated oven until a knife inserted into the center of cake comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes.
