Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8x4 inch loaf pan.

Combine butter, sugar, golden syrup, and milk in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, remove from heat, and set aside.
Step 3
Sift flour, ginger, allspice, and baking soda into a large bowl. Stir in butter-sugar mixture until just blended. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
Step 4
Reduce the oven heat to 325 degrees F (160 degrees C). Bake until top of loaf springs back when lightly touched, about 1 hour.
