Here's a tropical twist on the tuna melt. Tuna is mixed with lemon juice and spices, then heated on a burger bun with mozzarella cheese and sweet pineapple rings.

Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Toast hamburger buns, and spread cut sides with butter.
Step 2
Drain half of the oil from the tuna. Combine the tuna and remaining oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and chili powder in a small bowl. Mix well. Fill each toasted bun with tuna salad, shredded lettuce, mozzarella cheese, and one pineapple ring.
Step 3
Place sandwiches on a baking sheet, and heat until the cheese melts, approximately 10 to 12 minutes.

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 4 hamburger buns, split
  • 1 dash chili powder
  • 1 (5 ounce) can tuna chunks in olive oil
  • 4 canned pineapple rings
