Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Cut pears in half lengthwise and remove cores; set aside.
Step 2
Add Marsala cooking wine, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg to a small bowl; stir to dissolve sugar. Set aside.
Step 3
Melt butter in a large 12-inch skillet. Stir in Marsala mixture. Cook over medium heat until bubbly. Place pears cut-side down in the skillet. Cover and cook over medium-low heat until a paring knife easily slides into flesh, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand until cool enough to serve, 30 to 45 minutes.
Step 4
Place each pear half in a small bowl. Stir remaining sauce in the skillet; drizzle each serving with 1 to 2 teaspoons warm sauce. Top each with a small scoop of ice cream and toasted pecans.

  • 4 Bartlett pears, about 8 oz. each
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • 0.125 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup Holland House® Marsala Cooking Wine
  • 0.25 teaspoon Toasted pecans
