Recipe Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
Step 2
Mix flour, 2 cups sugar, 1 teaspoon baking soda, salt, and cinnamon together in a large bowl until well combined for cake. Make a well in center; add oil, eggs, orange juice, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined. Stir in apple, walnuts, and coconut. Pour into the prepared pan.
Step 3
Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean, 75 to 90 minutes. Remove from the oven; poke holes all over cake with a chopstick.
Step 4
Bring 1 cup sugar, buttermilk, butter, and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda to a boil in a medium saucepan for glaze.
Step 5
Pour hot glaze over cake; let stand for 1 hour. Carefully turn cake out onto a serving plate.
