Step 1
Cut orange into sections, and remove the seeds. Grind the sections, peels and all.
Step 2
Combine dates, raisins, and ground orange in a medium saucepan: stir well. Stir in sugar and orange juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened.
Step 3
Spread hot filling between layers or on top of cake.
